LIZARD ISLAND, Australia...
The picturesque world renowned Lizard Island
is located 120 km north of Port Douglas,
with a travel time of approx.6-10 hours.
There are several island groups on the way
to visit and relax on or travel the Ribbon
Reefs for some amazing diving and
snorkelling. Phantom can relocate to the
Island where we meet guests who choose to
fly from Cairns to Lizard Island. Daily
commercial flights service the island or
private charter flights are also available.
Lizard Island is positioned to enjoy both
the inner and outer reef areas. It is a
large island with a rugged beauty as it
rises dramatically from the Coral Sea. It is
surrounded by dozens of secluded beaches,
bays and lagoons. There are marked walks for
guests to explore the island and Historic
Watsons Bay. The Lizard Island Resort also
provides luxury accommodation and
restaurants for guests wishing to stay on
the island and use Phantom during the day.
THE COD HOLE:
Is located near Lizard Island on the end
of Ribbon Reef # 10 about a 45 minute
cruise. Here is a spectacular scuba dive and
snorkel site, a great experience for all
ages. Friendly giant potatoe Cod are the
main attraction as they are very inquisitive
and like to come close for a look. Marine
life of all description is present from
passing Manta Rays, Moray Eels to an
abundance of fish species and beautiful
coral. For the adventurous there are several
swim throughs and small caves to explore.
A definite must see, so bring the underwater
camera.
