HINCHINBROOK ISLAND, Australia...
Hinchinbrook Island is Australia's largest
island National Park spanning approx. 52 km
long and 10 km wide. The Island is separated
from the mainland by the Hinchinbrook
channel.
This majestic island is off the coast from
Cardwell, guests can either fly from Cairns
to Dunk Island, a short flight or travel on
Phantom as you cruise en-route to the
Whitsundays or spend the time in the area .
Hinchinbrook is the result of uplifts and
erosion to provide spectacular Mountains,
steep cliffs, gorges, valleys and
waterfalls. Providing guests with a diverse
range of beaches and secluded bays, plenty
of walking tracks to explore and waterfalls
to cool off in. The area is known for its
bird life of Herons, cockatoos, pheasants,
Torres strait and Wampoo pigeons. Several
marine grass bays provide a haven for
turtles and resident dugongs.
North of Hinchinbrook are several smaller
islands (including Dunk Island) all offering
seclusion and shelter for anglers and
beachcombers. Barramundi fishing and
crabbing are a must do activity as you
explore this well kept Hinchinbrook region. |
